Must Have’s When Bringing Home a New Puppy

Welcoming home a new puppy is one of the most exciting experiences.  With that, there are lots of prerequisites to think of even before you bring him home.  You need to be ready in welcoming him home and part of being ready is to have all the thing he needs there.

Having enough food supply will be one of the most important things you need to start with. You should know what type of food is best for your puppy but introducing new food brand is also essential but of course you need to check for any adverse reaction on him. In buying foods, you also need to have a chew bone to keep him responsive to you when asking him for something to do. You also need to have stainless food and water bowls. Other things such as resalable plastic container are also essential as it will prevent dog’s food to be contaminated by insects and dirt.

Let him have adequate place to sleep and rest, preparing them a crate is one way to make them feel welcome and wanted. Crates are not cruel and harsh on dogs because it makes them have a sense of security and it will also become their dwelling place. You must understand that they have their own needs so letting him there to rest and to hide for something for a while makes them absolutely secure. A mobile dog crate is also vital for puppies especially if you are planning to carry them around at the park and on a veterinarian. You need to make him used to it especially if you have plans of carrying him on your car for a ride.

Once your puppy is home, you can make appointments with the veterinarian and make sure that they will get complete vaccine. Your puppy will be playful so you also need to make sure that there are enough toys for him to play safely. Don’t acquire him something that can be chewed or swallowed.

There are other things he needs such as collar, leash, and tags. You also need to use paper towel and always clean up the mess on foods and urine stains. Cleaning is vital so there will be no unwanted smell on your carpet and inside the house. Once your puppy gets home, you need to make sure that he will get adequate bath every day and regular grooming too. These things are vital to make sure that he will be clean at all times.

Nail clipping is also important and it should be done on a regular basis. Whenever you shampoo your puppy make sure that you only use mild shampoo as they can be easily irritated by harsh chemicals that are found on shampoos.

One more important thing you need to keep in mind is that never bring home a puppy during your weekday work load. Make sure you are there to bond with him and to supervise his needs. Probably, during vacation time is one of the best times to acquire a dog.Content written by Lacy Hanson of ohmydogsupplies.com, check out our awesome collection of funny dog shirts online.
