Washing Dog

Keeping your dog clean is your responsibility. Unfortunately, you may dread bath time almost as much as Rover does. The good news is that not all dogs need to be bathed particularly often. Dog washing moves outside for my two retrievers. No more soggy bathroom, no more drippy paw prints in the house. Clean dogs, without having to clean up the house afterward.

Washing & Feeding Your Dog Properly
By John Biddik

Washing Your Dog:

If you love your dog then you have to take care of it. One of the most important things that you can do is give him a bath. Before washing your dog gather some old clothes or a bathing suit because most dogs tend to get sloppy when they get bathed. Make sure the water you wash your dog with is luke-warm, not cold , but not hot either. Be sure to place some wool or cotton in the dog’s ears to help protect his ear canal from infection. While bathing him, consider your dogs feelings; use slow movements and posotive voice tones to make sure your dog knows that this is something for him to be excited about rather than thinking he may be in trouble. Do not wash the dogs face because this is a sensitive area, instead use a warm washcloth and gently stroke your dogs face while being careful to avoid the eyes. After your dog is dry, comb/brush him thoroughly to rid him of excess hair.

Feeding Your Dog:

It’s very important that dogs be fed on a regular schedule, instead of having them food made available to them for self-feeding. There are plenty of reasons that accompany this statement. This is definately the best thing for their digestive system, and helps you to be aware of the current health of your pet. Feeding dogs "on demand" does not allow them a period for digestion. Their digestive juices are stimulated by their ability to smell. Because of this, when a dog has food near him, even if he is not eating it, it does not allow his digestive system to rest. Dogs need to be able to sometimes eat in different places. Feeding them regularly but moving their food bowl from place to place will be helpful if you ever decide to take your pet on camping trips or on the road. Training your pet also becomes much easier once he/she realizes that you are the one that puts the food infront of them. Lastly, but still very important, have someone else feed your dog every now and then besides yourself. If you should become ill or not be able to attend to your dog for whatever reason, the dog will be more likely to eat when a stranger must feed him.
